Dorothy Hodgkin was such an inspiring figure for all women in science. She remains the only British woman in science that won the Nobel Prize.
Yet, regardless her achievements she remained humbled and generous until the end.
But her story is not only about what she accomplished but rather than the fact that she accomplished any scientist dream despite her disability.

Not even your own body can stop you to win the battles you will find in your way to Ithaka.
To quote C.P. Cavafy’ poem “as you set out for Ithaka, hope your road is a long one…you’ll never find things like that on your way, as long as you keep your thoughts raised high, as long as a rare excitement, stirs your spirit and your body…” (Ithaka by C.P. Cavafy).
Dorothy Hodgkin is and will remain a great inspiration for all women and especially for women in science. Her life should be celebrated in order to inspire people of disabilities to never give up.
